Our Commitment – Ending Excessive Tree Clearing
Labor committed to ending excessive tree clearing during the 2017 election, and we are delivering.
That’s why the first order of business in Parliament this year was to introduce the Vegetation Management Amendment Bill 2018, to protect Queensland’s remnant and high value regrowth vegetation.
Labor ended indiscriminate clearing of remnant vegetation in Queensland 14 years ago, and with those reforms delivered the largest single reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in Australia.
But the LNP government threw that all away. And now, an area the size of the MCG is cleared in Queensland every 3 minutes.
I won’t stand for it.
Our near-threatened plants and animals need our protection.
Not tomorrow. Not in a years’ time, but today.
Will you sign the pledge to help end excessive land clearing?
