Queensland’s electoral boundaries are reviewed every seven years to ensure all 93 electorates remain fairly balanced and that every vote carries an equal value.
The process of reviewing and adjusting electoral boundaries is known as a redistribution. An independent body called the Queensland Redistribution Commission (QRC) is established to perform the redistributions.
There are four stages of community consultation, as required by the Electoral Act 1992. These stages include:
- Invite suggestions (closed 6 August 2025)
- Invite comments on suggestions (closed 22 September 2025)
- Invite objections against the proposed redistribution (closed 9 April 2026)
- Invite comments on the objections against the proposed redistribution (closed 30 April 2026)
Under the proposed 2026 redistribution, the electorate of Springwood would see some changes. Mount Cotton and Sheldon may move into a neighbouring electorate, while Springwood is proposed to welcome Cornubia, Underwood, and parts of Carbrook and Loganholme.

The last time Queensland's electoral boundaries were reviewed was back in 2017. That was when I was first given the privilege of representing the communities of Mount Cotton and Sheldon in the Queensland Parliament.
Since then, I've had the chance to work closely with the community and have achieved so much, as there was a lot to do after a long period of nothing going on.
Some of the the things I'm most proud of include:
- Delivering major upgrades to Mt Cotton State School, including the new administration and Prep precinct, new school oval and air conditioning in every classroom - powered by rooftop solar
- Securing long-awaited road safety upgrades in several locations on Mt Cotton Road to make the community safer
- Building the Mt Cotton Road Fire Station to keep our community protected in bush fire season, and every day in between
- Establishing the Redlands Satellite Hospital- which has made an enormous difference to literally thousands of people in our neighbourhood
- Funding the construction of the hugely popular Eastern Escarpment mountain bike trail network
These are projects that only happened because our community stood up and fought for what we deserved. I have been enormously inspired by working in and with this community.
