As Queenslanders we are spoilt for choice when it comes to idyllic locations to engage in active recreation.

Whenever anyone asks me what’s my favourite spot in the state I answer Daisy Hill Conservation Park straight away. Daisy Hill Conservation Park is an iconic attraction in our community. It is enjoyed by thousands from our community and visitors each week. Many people would like to see the amenity and conservation of Daisy Hill preserved and enhanced.

For me, the bushland that’s home to the Daisy Hill Koala Centre has long been the centre of why we as locals love to call this place home. It’s one of these fantastic local places where horse and bike riders, as well as walkers and runners can all get active in a clean, green environment. Beyond that, it is a showcase of urban conservation, that I protect fiercely as a custodian for future generations. That’s why I’ve been determined to work with our local community to make this plan a reality.

As a government, we recognise the importance of sport and recreation and the importance of conserving bushland for flora and fauna as well as education. I am delivering on my commitment to working with locals and user groups to ensure the improvements to recreational facilities provide an urban environment for people of all ages and abilities to get outdoors and get active—and benefit those who are fortunate to live close by. 

The Palaszczuk Government has delivered a multi-million dollar package of funding to invest in more conservation measures and facilities at Daisy Hill. 

The following projects for delivery between 2022 - 2023 include:

• New mountain bike trails and upgrades to existing mountain bike and walking trails
• New barrier-free paths, linking northern and southern sides of the main picnic area
• Improved barrier-free access from Dennis Road to the main picnic area
• New horse float parking area and new speed tables around the Ring Road 
• New toilet facilities and extra car parks at the Upper Trail hub car park

Thanks go to a dedicated group of local residents who formed the Design & Delivery Group and worked together with the government to design trails, trail head upgrades, accessibility and mobility upgrades and new amenities.

• RATS Cycling Club
• Daisy Hill Natural Area Volunteer group
• Elements Retirement Village
• Walking Groups that utilise Daisy Hill Conservation area
• Local residents
