Making transport more affordable

It’s time to make transport more affordable in Queensland.

Cost of living is Labor’s number one priority because we know how affordability pressures are impacting Queenslanders, whether that’s through transport costs, rent, mortgages, education, sports or bills.

It’s unlike the LNP who have cut Labor’s energy rebates – despite promising Queenslanders they wouldn’t.

That’s why this Wednesday, 11 February, the Queensland Labor team will introduce legislation in Parliament to cap fuel increases and make it harder for 50c fares to be increased.

And now we need you to rally Queenslanders to back it in.

With millions of Queenslanders paying more for fuel than anywhere else in the country, Labor’s plan will pump the brakes on sudden and massive increases.

Labor’s Bill will ensure that fuel retailers cannot increase their prices by more than 5 cents per day, and that any increases will need to be advertised by 2pm the day prior.

The Bill will also make it harder for 50c fares to be increased.

It was Steven Miles and Queensland Labor who introduced 50c fares in 2024, and now we want to ensure that it’s permanent.

This means David Crisafulli and the LNP, or any future government, will need to move a motion to increase 50c fares – answering to the people’s house: the Parliament.

Tell the LNP – back Labor’s Bill to make transport more affordable!
