Agonising Wait on Infrastructure

As students return to school and the working year is back in full swing, one of the big questions is when the new bus station at Rochedale will open to the public.

Funded by Labor in government, the Park n Ride at Rochedale was expected to be ready for the start of 2025; especially important given the popularity of 50 cent fares that were successfully introduced in 2024.

Pressure is mounting on the new Government to urgently complete and open the latest bus station, and get on with the job of delivering the crucial infrastructure Queensland and Logan needs.

Commuters and motorists alike are keen to start using the improved facilities they need now, to make their daily commutes easier and cheaper.

Concerns are however rippling throughout the community, particularly following the announcement the new Crisafulli Government is walking back its commitment to deliver heavy rail to Maroochydore by 2032.

During the election campaign, David Crisafulli was vague on details but repeatedly insisted that Queenslanders could trust him to deliver, including a promise to build the Sunshine Coast Rail to Maroochydore by 2032, assuring voters there would be "no ifs, no buts, no shortcuts."

Now, however, Crisafulli and Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie have abandoned this guarantee. This raises a serious question: Is the LNP planning to stall or scrap other critical infrastructure projects? If so, what else is on the chopping block?

Transport infrastructure is not a luxury—it is a necessity for working families, students, and seniors. The LNP must demonstrate they take community infrastructure seriously, get on with the job, and start delivering.

Getting home sooner and safer matters. Having reliable transport matters. And our community will not accept anything less.
