Youth Voices Shaping Our Future in Springwood

Every community has its future in the hands of its young people, and here in Springwood, we’re proud to give that future a voice through the Springwood Youth Advisory Committee.

This initiative is more than a meeting room—it’s a platform for 16- to 25-year-olds to influence decisions that affect their lives and our neighbourhood.

In the past, the Committee has been at the centre of some of our most progressive local projects. From campaigning to declare the expansion of Daisy Hill Conservation park, to advocating for the Queensland Women and Girls' Health Strategy, and action on climate change, members have demonstrated time and again how their passion and fresh ideas can drive real change.

Georgia, current member and young health professional, shared how the springwood Youth Advisory Committee boosted her confidence:

“Being part of the committee taught me how to communicate effectively and believe in my ideas. It’s made me want to pursue a career in public service.”

Similarly, electrician Ben said, “It gave me the tools to connect with others and see the impact of teamwork on a bigger scale.”

These stories are just the tip of the iceberg. The committee doesn’t just shape the community; it also shapes its members, offering leadership development, networking opportunities, and a firsthand understanding of how government works.

We’re now calling on the next wave of changemakers. If you’re between 16 and 25 and want to make a difference, we want to hear from you. Whether your passion is climate action, youth employment, the arts, or any other issue, the Springwood Youth Advisory Committee is your chance to be heard.
